While i can't focus on doing anything since i'm out of cigarette to keep me going. suddenly i wonder, what does it takes to be a good architect. what is the criteria to be a good architect? or is there any such thing as good architect? it is easy to be a rich architect, just open up a firm, make friends with the high rolers in the government and just wait for the projects to roll in. but it's a bit hard to be the famous ones since you have to come up with your own bullcrap theories which makes you distinctive from the others. although they're famous, doesn't mean they're good.. right?
so a good architect must have ethics? i've read it somewhere about ethics and architecture. i know it suppose to go hand in hand but does it still valid in today's world where money controls everything.. money moves everything, even we have to pay to take a dump nowadays! so, what i think is, ethics and morality among architects are long lost. it is all about the survival of the fittest!
and talking about Malaysian architecture.. which my professor always complains about in class.. Putrajaya is not a good example to reflect Malaysian architecture. We focus too much on Islamic and Malay and yada yada.. well, what is Malaysia anyway? and if we focus on the primary races like the malays, chinese and indians.. then what about the minority races? like the ibans, dayaks, and the immigrants that start to pouring in like tsunamis? (ahh, the indonesians.. hmmm) within 20 years from now, don't you think Malaysia would be internationalized?
so that is why i think 1Malaysia is just another crap that they try to bull with us with so they can steal more of our tax money. And the people would be fooled by the false shadowy direction that Najib try to lead us to..
and talking about the Malays, hmm.. the youngsters (excluding me since i'm a grown ups now!) (owh, why would i be bother about the Malays, im Puerto Rican! totally forgot!) they are getting stupider.. especially the ones that shuffling their future to nowhere (maybe they will still be in front of Maybank Bukit Bintang 15 years from now..) and the chinese is getting wiser and cleverer and i am not surprise if one day Malaysia will actually be ruled by the chinese or infact the Indians! Parents are getting more ignorant (among Malays especially the ones that have gazillion children but get a paycheck to sustain 2 souls.), why would you have a child if you would let them stray like a rat! Better get a chipmunk instead! (i would prefer hamster since i can't stand it's singing)
Whatever it is, i just want to point out that, if parents don't do anything to get their child behaved and well educated like the others, well do something about it! and make sure your child know how to speak in english.. learning malay language solely won't bring you anywhere. i am so shocked when they make such a fuss about implementing english as the language for science and maths. it is a good thing! can't they realize it?

ReplyDeletehowever for other task, whoever intelligent or good in the field should be ruling each department, because the one leading the department is the one who lead that particular department/ministry. It doesn't even matter whether who is that guy, but for sure it must be fair to everyone, i am not talking about race here but i am talking about cronyism. I don't mind a malay lead the financial ministry, actually i believe in that chinese doesn't really care who rule as long as the system isn't misuse.
Sadden by the fact that there are majority malay youngsters in front of Bukit Bintang Maybank. It is good if they did it during the weekend only and not during the weekdays. I was told that they do still go for prayer, which is consider ok to me. but i hope that everyone in this country is willing to work hard, regardless of race.
Today, if we look at the newspaper, we might find this race issue is one major problem. Politicians like to fry or goreng this issue as it can gain instant attention to them. Do not get me wrong as a chinese who will only support chinese, as a matter of fact each race will automatically gather among themselves due to the language spoken, the dialect etc. Take this as example, red ants and black ants belongs to the same family but might gather by colors. But the way that they archive harmony is that the ants doesn't go and provoke each other.
We as malaysian are still confined in this country mentality. Everything is about Malay, Chinese , Indian etc. Eventually this mindset is making this country worst, people who used to think that we compete among races, that is something bad and irrelevant. The thing we need to challenge is the globalization. In 2009 vietnam and indonesia has overtaken malaysia in terms of Foreign Direct Investment, and in Malaysia, people still fighting among each other to decide who should own that slice of cake, ignoring that the other bakery has come out with a better cake than us.
In terms of architecture, do not compare chinese and malay or indian. But compare to the other universities outside Malaysia, AA , bartlett, HongKong University, Melbourne University etc. We don't need to travel too far to AA or Bartlett to see how much we have left behind, simply by a visit to our neighbour, NUS we will be able to see that how the facilities is lacking behind. How about Chulalongkorn University, they are regarded as one of the best university in the region.
Malaysia used to be On par with Korea , Singapore etc . but we are left behind and having internal fight over the slice of cake.
