Highrise Initial Design

We were assigned to roughly design a highrise building, and study the structural system of such design. I have come out with a design inspired by Jean Nouvel, he's an architect from France which produce excellent works (at least most of them are). The new Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan has such unique personality; which although it doesn't seem has to be there (due to the height of it) but it fits the surrounding nicely (with it tall and slender 'figure').

I'm inspired by the structural system of the building that creates distinctive character to it. So, i try to adapt it to the design. Enough of the gibberish. Here are the images of the design.

But it is just the initial design. It's not complete yet. Enjoy guys. Leave me messages if you have any comments.

  1. if ur having the trusses as the structure, basically, ur clad can be fixed onto the structure. this is highly possible, and therefore decreasing the size of your glass's steel profile. im not sure which is good, having truss structures and zigzag facade at the same time , or one feature at a time. not sure.experiment and post it here.

  2. thanks.. showed it to the professor last night. what he said is, it is better to have multiple facade treatment. and should play with solid and void (i've that in mind).. Basically need to redesign and i might need to go to your office to take several examples for reference.

  3. cool stuff bro, what rendering software r u using.

by the way, because of the nature of the diagonal shape of the steel structrue, they have managed to come out with a shape like the first photo. they are basically playing with the nature of the diagonal grid of the framework. however when there is post n beam structure, things will be a little different.

in terms of exterior look , it looks fine, but in terms of the reason of doing so, it doesn't really match.

  4. I am using Vue 6.. yeah, i know. Now i am at the crossroad between choosing either functionality or aesthetic value.

Assuming that I have less than one week to get my project done, I will go for functionality. I'll post my boards later. =)
